IELTS  (International English Language Testing System) is an international standardized test of English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Pty Ltd. It was established in 1989.

IELTS Test Format and Centers in Pakistan International English Testing SystemThere are two versions of IELTS; Academic or General Training. The version you need will depend on the organisation or visa for which you are applying. We recommended that you check the English language requirements with the organisation or institution you are planning to submit your IELTS result to and ask which version they require you to take.

The IELTS test is a paper-based test that includes four sections to test all four language skills:
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking

Listening

This module comprises of total four sections and each section carries ten questions. The aspirants will be given question paper which consists of multiple questions including: multiple choice questions (MCQs), short questions, as well as sentence completion, summary, labeling a map or diagram or plan, matching etc.

Reading

There are two sorts of reading modules one for Academic Version while the other for General Training Version, every module contains three sections having forty questions in them. The aspirants will be given three readings which might be taken from advertisements, brochures, newspapers, books and from the magazines as well.

Writing

There are two sorts of writing modules one for Academic Version and the other for General Training Version. In every module aspirants have 20 minutes for the task 1 as well as for writing approximately one hundred and fifty words and 40 minutes for completing task 2 which require round about 250 words.

Speaking

The IELTS Speaking test is taken  face-to-with an examiner in a private room, unlike many other tests which require you to take your speaking test with a computer or in a room shared with other test takers.
